Top-Handle Jig Saw - Review

The Makita 4329K Variable-Speed Jigsaw combines a 3.9 amp motor with a variable-speed dial control (500-3,100 SPM) to help optimize cutting. The saw provides a 11/16-inch stroke and three orbital cut settings as well as standard straight cutting.

It has a compact design measuring 8 7/8 inches long and weighs 4.2 pounds. The limit of cutting wood is 2 9/16-inches deep. The die-cast aluminum base adjusts up to 45 degrees right or left and positive stop at 90 degrees, the die-cast aluminum base dampens sound and helps in reduce vibration. An ergonomically designed rubberized grip offers a larger trigger with a lock-on button. The lock can be set with the thumb while holding the saw with your right hand. The counterweight balancing system is designed for reduced vibration and causes less fatigue. Very little vibration gets transmitted through to your hands or the piece you are cutting. The saw operates much more quietly than other jig saws, ensuing more precise cuts.

The saw requires a hex wrench to change the saw's cutting angle and blade, this is on-tool storage space for the hex wrench. This allows adjusting the bevel or change the blade efficiently. The blade locking system is easy to use, locks tight and square. The jig saw uses type B-23 Tang-shank blades only.

has a dust port that allows you to attach your vacuum to the unit, whenever the saw is in non-beveled operation. The dust cover is transparent and can slid up and down for shielding. It's sometimes tricky to move it in and out of position, but with its through-the-body dust port system it provides exceptional dust management.SummaryOverall an excellent jigsaw but not for everyone. The saw's handle is too wide to grip with confidence and comfort, but is relatively light weight helping to reduce fatigue. It is a basic saw with virtually no bells or whistles. If you are looking for the bells and whistle, this is not the saw for you. If you need a powerful saw, again this is not for you, but for crafts or light projects, you'll have plenty of power. If you are looking for a solidly built, middle of the road, low cost option, this is a quiet, low-vibration, precision tool and makes an excellent choice.
